For some reason, during the past two weeks I have become increasingly interested in Hot Sauce. I knew I had a relatively high tolerance to the heat of hot sauces since I often get the blazin' sauce at Bw's and had been handling my Blair's after death sauce for some time.
What I was surprised to learn about was how many different hot sauces and extracts are out there. There are even people that do some serious collecting and are willing to pay some serious money for these exotic and extremely hot sauces.
The heat of a hot sauce is most commonly discussed in terms of Scoville units. If memory serves me right, a jalepeno is about 5,000 scoville units. For reference the blazin sauce at bws is reportedly between 200,000 and 350,000 scoville units.
The Sauce I just purchased was Mad Dog 357 with a reported 357,000 scoville units. This stuff is awesome, and very hot! While with delivery charges it cost me over 14 bucks I'm glad I got it. It brought heat to a new level for me and really got my endorphins rushing.
So I am already on the lookout for my next hot sauce. I really like the look of Satan's Blood and am also considering Magma and a few others, pushing the scoville units higher. I'll let you know how it turns out! I'd love to here YOUR experiences with hot sauces and any recommendations you may have.
